Tagetes is an edible flower that most people know under a very different name: the marigold. Marigold is a popular bedding plant, but also a regular guest in many kitchens. Marigold flowers are edible. Among the ranks of edible flowers, marigolds have a fairly unique position: whereas many flowers have a quite neutral taste, EAT ME edible marigolds have a spicy flavour. Other flavours associated with edible marigolds are slightly bitter and citrusy.
To retain their striking shape, it's best not to rinse marigolds.
